Hello? Is this thing on?

I'm assured that if I mean to make anything of myself as a novelist, I need to have a blog. I know no one will believe me if I insist that I have nothing to say! Obviously, what I have to do is order my thoughts and get over the fear of talking to myself long enough for people to actually come listen to me do it. So here's a beginning, however small.

  1. I find it much easier to blog than to write stories. Stories are supposed to have plot and characters and structure and stuff. Blogging is just like making conversation, but in an I'm-going-to-say-all-my-stuff-at-once-and-then-it's-your-turn kinda way. I have absolute faith that you will write a lovely blog. Nobody's kicked me off of the internet yet and you'd be amazed how aimlessly I go on about nothing. Then again, looking over this comment, maybe you won't be amazed after all.

  2. LOL Well personally, I like stories with plots and characters and everything, so much better than journaling of any kind. I never feel self-conscious in fiction, or if I do, I know I'm not doing it right. Besides, I get to do all the voices!

  3. Beware the time sink. Blogging will try to eat up your life.

OTIH, almost all of my favorite writers blog, about their writing or about life in general, so maybe this is a good idea.
